Groupon forced to stop "70% off wrinkle injection/filler" deal!

alt

Groupon, the well-known discount company many millions of people have swarmed to over the past few years, has this week been forced to end a deal on non-surgical cosmetic treatments including anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers.

A quick google search for 'botox' will give hundreds of results for companies offering 'cheap' and cut-price deals on these treatments. However, the reality can sometimes be different. Many businesses out there are willing to slash prices to attract customers at any cost. Unfortunately, the true 'cost' can be far higher - your face.

We've highlighted before the fact that cosmetic treatments should never be slected on price alone. The practitioner you choose should ideally be based on a recommendation or after seeing examples of their work, and a full face-to-face consultation.

It has also been a 'bad week' for the non-surgical cosmetics industry with a leading doctor, Mark Harrison, being suspended for so called 'remote-consultations'. Patients were seen by a nurse who then telephoned Dr Harrison for a consultation followed by the nurse administering the treatment. Understandably the governing bodies of both nurses and doctors have ruled this as illegal.

This has left both patients looking for treatments, and the independent nurses who are treating them in a real dilemma. This is something which makes the industry seem unreliable and even dangerous. If you go to a practitioner from now on who has to wring another practitioner to get the botox prescribed for you then this is ILLEGAL.

We would advise you to walk away immediately and not to risk going ahead with the treatment. It may be the case that the treatment would not be insured due to the remote prescription and if something was to go wrong there may not be a way to be compensated. It just isn't worth it.

However, here at Adam Williams Aesthetics, you can be assured that our nurses will always be independent nurse prescribers. This means that they have undergone additional training at degree level to be able to prescribe any medicine you will need for your treatment, from the local anaesthetic cream, the botox or filler itself and any medicine used to mix it such as the sterile water.

In fact, our director and advanced aesthetic nurse practitioner Adam has undergone both a degree in adult nursing and a masters degree in advanced practice in addition to the independent nurse prescribers qualification. Therefore you can be sure that your treatments are carried out by qualified, experienced but most of all, someone who is trusted by hundreds of clients in the UK.

We don't believe in '70% off deals' because they incentivise a prescription only drug which is illegal and unethical. We always advise clients who come to us asking for discounts to find out what the 'catch' is from the cheaper company they quote.

Is it that they only see you once, and you have to pay for any follow up or 'top ups'? Is it that they can only ever fit you in weeks or sometimes months in advance if there is a problem? Do they suddenly become unreachable if there is a side effect to your treatment?

We will always provide you with a direct contact number to your practitioner. Sometimes a niggling question you forgot to ask at the time of treatment, sometimes you might need a slight tweak to treatment, but this way your mind is at rest because we are here to help!

Your face is as important to you as it is to us and we want to make the best of you! Treatments you can trust, here at Adam Williams Aesthetics. Click here to get in touch!
